One Mind, One Pose – Part 1

The big question on everyone’s mind, be it amateur or professional is – how many Yogic postures will do the trick? Astonishingly, the magic number here is one – yeah, you read it right, just one!!

When the fundamental goal of a practitioner is to discipline the mind and evolve as human being, thorough knowledge of a single pose is the way to go. Remaining in the said pose for a considerable duration of time will provide equivalent benefits that practicing different postures can give.

Things that need to be kept in mind while follow the One Mind One Pose route:

  • Choose that one pose according to your taste and preference
  • Learn and master that posture in all its entirety
  • Practice until you can remain in the pose for a long duration, because any strain or pain becomes a source of distraction for advanced practices
  • Once you attain proficiency in the chosen Asana, techniques like pranayama, dharana and dhyana can be learnt to sharpen your intellect and reigning in your emotions.

So it’s good to remember that sometime less is more!
